Diving is Back for Spring!

As of April 1st we are getting back into our normal schedule with diving at Frank Brown Park. Information pertaining to the lessons is below:

Lesson Times until School is out:

Monday:     4 - 4:45 Beginner    4 - 5:30ish Int. and Team Divers

Tuesday:    4 - 4:45 Beginner    4 - 5:30ish Int. and Team Divers

Team Divers will have a third and fourth practice each week as the summer progresses. Also once school has let out, i plan on offering morning classes as well as an additional day per week.

Pricing:

Beginner and Int. - 1 day per week = $50/month     2 days per week = $65/month

Advanced and Team Divers - 2 - 4 days per week = $85/month

Finally decent weather and the start of another great diving season in Bay County and Panama City Beach!

For those that braved the winter weather i expect great things with your diving this summer! For those ready to try a new sport, drop me an email or call me and let's get you practicing your next new favorite sport!

We will get back into the swing of things April 1, 2008 with consistent weekly schedules for all skill levels. Until then I encourage anyone interested in the sport to come by and try it out! Currently we are practicing on Tuesdays from 4-5:30 and with weather behaving we are at the pool on some Mondays and Thursdays. Email me or call to get an exact schedule.

T-Shirts are in...

Hey all, our team diving t-shirts are in. There are two styles, one is a typical white tee and the other is an extremely weathered/distressed white tee. Both have our Team Wonder Dive Logo.

Each diver who has survived the storm of winter work-outs will be given a complimentary one through the end of February. If you want additional tees for family members, cousins, neighbors, or simply to support our efforts in raising money to continue our growth - they can be purchased from Randy for $15.

We have an option to do additional merchandising - car stickers, window decals, sweats, visors, etc. If these are things that interest you, drop me a line and if we get enough interest we can do small orders.

In addition, if you or your business ever has a need for tees, InkTrax here in PC gave us an AMAZING deal on these shirts and I would like to send as much business in their direction as possible.

The Back Press or Back Take-off

Continuing on with some basics, here is a great video instruction on the Back Press. This is a fundamental skill for all back and inward dives as well as optionals in those categories. Watch and bring me questions if you have any: (thanks to Jeff Huber via YouTube)

Finally there is some sunshine!

Monday February 4 - practice will be at Frank Brown in the Pool. I will be there at approx. 4PM.

Tuesday Feb 5 - 4PM at the pool with beginner and Intermediate lessons as well as High School

Thursday Feb 7 - Most likely in the gym, but will update as week goes by.

A Great Hurdle Lesson...

Here is a nice video explanation of a front approach for the sport of springboard diving. The approach is like swinging a baseball bat - every athlete is going to do it slightly different, they will find what is comfortable for them - BUT with the personal variation, there are certain important things that a diver should focus on.

Pay attention to his body alignment and stance on the board as well as position of arms throughout the various parts of the approach. Notice the lack of "extra" movement in the hurdle...controlled, concise movements in order to generate the most from the diving board.

There will be two styles, a traditional white tee with the logo and a vintage rag tee with logo. I think the prices are going to be $10 for traditional and $15 for rag tee.
