Here is a nice video explanation of a front approach for the sport of springboard diving. The approach is like swinging a baseball bat - every athlete is going to do it slightly different, they will find what is comfortable for them - BUT with the personal variation, there are certain important things that a diver should focus on.
Pay attention to his body alignment and stance on the board as well as position of arms throughout the various parts of the approach. Notice the lack of "extra" movement in the hurdle...controlled, concise movements in order to generate the most from the diving board.
